Mrs. Eddy has called Jesus of Nazareth "the most scientific man that ever trod the globe" (Science and Health, p. 313), and yet he departed from material law not partially, but wholly, recognizing all causation as vested in Mind, in Spirit. No natural scientist, who bases being on matter, can ever hope to emulate the works of this "greatest Scientist." In this connection it is true, as our critic says, that many natural scientists will have nothing to do with Christian Science. And the reason, as stated above, should be clear to him. To accept Christian Science is to discard all preconceived idea of matter as causative, and to recognize God, Spirit, as All-in-all, that "all is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all" (Science and Health, p. 468). This discovery of Mind as causation, or more correctly speaking this rediscovery by Mrs. Eddy, has resulted in infinite blessings to mankind, teaching them that the kingdom of heaven is, as Jesus declared, here and now, a mental condition and not a locality.

Christian Scientists do base their pronouncements "upon pure science," as well as on revelation, declaring that science must coordinate with revelation, and revelation with science. No critic has yet been able to escape from its rationale or find a flaw in its logic, as your intellectual contributor will at once discover when he takes up the study of the subject. Christian Science is destroying sin and suffering in a manner unrecorded since the time of the Galilean Prophet. Why should any one wish to criticize it? Surely whatever system honors God as Christian Science honors Him, is worthy of the support of every Christian man and woman.

This critic claims that the powers possessed by "Moses, Elijah, Christ, and St. Paul, have long since passed away." Not so. There are no miracles; all is divinely natural and in obedience to spiritual law. If one single man ever, at any time, has been healed through the understanding of God, then there is law at the back of it, and it is as possible today to make use of that eternal law as it was a billion years ago. Truth is changeless, for God is immutable law; as the Bible expresses it, "the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever," "who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases."
