I write to express my gratitude for Christian Science,...
I write to express my gratitude for Christian Science, as I have much to be thankful for. I had been suffering about nine years from an internal complaint, for which I had to wear a support, three doctors having told me I would have to undergo an operation before I could be made well; but as the doctors had also said I had a very weak heart, I was very much afraid to take an anesthetic. This fear led me to put off the operation, especially as my husband expressed the desire that I put it off as long as I possibly could; but I was getting tired of suffering, and was about resolved to end it or remedy it when I heard of Christian Science through reading in the newspaper an account of the service held in the Christian Science church at Victoria Park, Manchester. In the account the people and their belief were ridiculed, but it mentioned how harmoniously the service was gone through; so, after making some inquiries, I paid a visit to the above church on the Wednesday evening following. I shall never forget how lovely everything seemed to me, as I felt quite at home from the first hour I spent with Christian Scientists—I went for harmony, and I got healing. I sought out a practitioner the following week, and I was cured of my weakness in just two weeks. I dispensed with the support at the end of two weeks, and I have been supported by the truth ever since.
This all happened about three years ago, and I am still enjoying health. I can now see how divine Love led me and saved me from the operation until I should be able to hear of the truth which has made me free from my bondage of suffering. I am very thankful to God, and to our dear Leader, who has given us this great understanding of God, good. I had resided in Philadelphia, Pa., for about ten years, but did not meet with any Christian Scientists, and had to come back to England to heart of this healing truth. I hope some of my friends in America will see this testimony, and thus learn of the good that has come to me.
