Far from being founded upon "the principle of ignoring"...
Edinburgh (Scot.) News
Far from being founded upon "the principle of ignoring" disease, the whole aim of Christian Science teaching is so to instruct the mortal that he may learn to recognize the first approach of sick and evil thoughts, and so bar his consciousness against their admission. This Science is based on the recognition of God as cause, as Love-infinite and eternal Truth. The unassailable logic of Christian Science shows us that evil cannot proceed from omnipotent good, and that there can be nothing outside of infinity. Thus we must either surrender the definition of God as eternal, infinite, and good, or admit that evil is not real in the absolute sense of the word. As the grand fact of the allness of good rises above the horizon of consciousness, sin, disease, evil of all sorts, are seen—not as entities, but as a supposed absence of good, as mental darkness; then, as this perception deepens into conviction, the student of Christian Science finds his faith in good increasing, his fear of sin and love of sin decreasing; he manifests more purity, moral courage, and compassion, grows stronger in health, and meets with greater success in his daily occupations. The change of thought thus indicated constitutes, no doubt, a new reformation, a mental revolution, but it need cause no man fear. Whatever is true in any form of religion or philosophy, in any branch of learning, will endure, can never be destroyed, since truth is in its very essence eternal.
