I feel ashamed that I have so long neglected to express my gratitude to God for the understanding of Christian Science which through our Leader has been given to mankind and has proven to all who seek "in spirit and in truth" that God is a present help in time of trouble. I am by occupation a railroad conductor in freight service. On July 25, 1907, in an accident, I met with severe injuries to my arm, also dislocation of the left ankle, in addition to very serious injuries of the foot. The three physicians who immediately attended me pronounced my ankle to be in a bad condition, and bound it up very tight in order that it could grow together again. I had as soon as possible after the accident wired a Christian Science practitioner to treat me, and I did not suffery any of the pain that usually follows such accidents, but ate a hearty supper and slept well all night. In six weeks I attended a wedding one hundred and fifty miles away, and in three months was back on the road again. I am now on a local freight, a run that requires a very active and strong man, but I suffer no inconvenience whatever.

I did not at any time during my confinement to my room suffer from the effects of the broken bones, and had none of the fever or inflammation which usually follows such accidents, nor did I take or use in any way material remedies of any kind. I slept well every night, and was always ready for my meals. For this and many other manifestations of God's love, as explained to us through the teachings of Christian Science, I am truly grateful.
