I feel it a duty to tell what Christian Science has...
I feel it a duty to tell what Christian Science has done for me. When it found me I was one of the most discouraged and despondent persons living; I did not know what it was to be cheerful and happy. I had been in this condition for several years, when I was advised to try Christian Science. I did so, and I soon saw that it was just what I needed. This was about nine years ago, and since that time I have depended entirely upon it for healing. It has taught me what God is, also man's relation to Him, and this has made me happy and free. I was enabled to take up school work again, after being so wonderfully helped by Christian Science, and am now holding a position as bookkeeper and stenographer. Each day I enjoy my work, all of which is due to Christian Science.
I should like very much to tell of another very beautiful demonstration, about five years ago. One evening in getting supper I scalded myself very severely. The first thought which came to me was that God is our life, and that no accidents can happen in the divine Mind. With this thought
I proceeded with my work. My sister, who had heard the noise, came to ask what was the matter (a can of boiling water had exploded, making a noise like that of a gun). I replied by asking her to know and declare the truth. Soon after, when the other members of the family learned what had happened, a burning sensation began to be felt; but I tried to realize its nothingness, and then I asked my sister to read the Lesson-Sermon with me. We had gone over one section of the Thanksgiving Lesson when instantly all pain disappeared, and I slept as peacefully as a child that night. On awakening in the morning, however, my face was badly swollen, but I was free from pain. Keeping the thoughts of truth constantly before me, I went about my usual work, feeling perfectly well, but watching carefully that only good thoughts should come to me. The third day a sense of fear came over me, and in a short time my mother came to me and said she thought I had better have a practitioner to help me. I said I was willing to trust God; but as she insisted, I sent word to a practitioner at once, and in a very short time the fear was gone. Gradually the swelling began to go down, and a week from the evening that the accident happened my face was perfectly healed, without a scar.
