When I first attended a Christian Science meeting, in the fall of 1909, I knew nothing about this teaching. My brother had asked me to go there, as he thought it would do me good. After the meeting was over I thought that if I could have heard before what I had just listened to, I would have been spared many a dark hour. Here I had found what I had often longed for—a true concept of God. After that I became a regular attendant at the meetings, and thereby gained a sufficient understanding to be able to apply the truth myself with good results. While doing house-cleaning I injured my wrist, but I overcame the pain by holding firmly to the thought that there is no inharmony in God, and the swelling disappeared along with the pain. At that time I had not yet spoken to a Christian Science practitioner. I used to be very irritable, but this disposition has been almost unconsciously overcome. I formerly suffered much, and often would seek for comfort in the Bible, but found none, as I could not understand it; now I do, and I love to read therein.
I thank God that I was shown this great truth, which has been made comprehensible by Mrs. Eddy to all who seek after it; and I am grateful that we have an opportunity here of having this teaching expounded.
Frau Emma Schulle, Dresden, Germany.
