THE LECTURES
BROOKLYN, N. Y.
Correspondence
Eight hundred people attended the lecture on Christian Science, given under the auspices of Second Church of Christ, Scientist, by Frank H. Leonard, at the Fort Lowry Hotel, Bath Beach, Brooklyn, on Sunday afternoon, June 26. Mr. Leonard was introduced by Harvey M. Ferris, First Reader of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Brooklyn, who said:—
For ages the human heart has been hungering for a religion that would prove a "very present help in trouble," a religion that could be demonstrated in all the minutiae of daily life, and in response to the prayer a message of love has been quietly and unostentatiously entering the consciousness of mankind for over forty years, healing every form of disease known to materia medica, awakening the sinner to the great possibilities of life in good, and reverberating its healing tones throughout the whole world. This gospel of love has been preached, practised, and demonstrated uninterruptedly throughout all these years, until today Christian Science stands the greatest remedial agent the world has known for centuries, and gratitude unbounded goes out hourly to its Discoverer and Founder, Mrs. Eddy, for this wondrous revelation of Truth.
I am not here to tell what Christian Science is or is not, but may venture to state that misconceived ideas about this religion, and beliefs in a power apart from God,—carnal beliefs, Biblically speaking,—are robbing us of our birthright and holding us in the bondage of sin, disease, and all bodily and mental suffering.—Correspondence.
