For thirty years I had the tobacco habit and for ten years I had been trying to get rid of it. I tried will-power, also some tablets; but I could not hold out over six months at the longest, and then the desire would come back stronger than ever. I am thankful to say, however, that after I had read Science and Health for one week, all desire for tobacco left me, never to return. That was about three years ago. I was also healed of a very bad bowel and kidney trouble that the doctor told me would put an end to my existence in a month. He had given me the strongest medicine known, but it had done me no good. I then came to Christian Science for healing, with little hope of getting any help; but I must say that I was completely healed in one month, and I have never had any trouble with the ailment since. Not long ago I had some dental work done, and the dentist, knowing that I was a Scientist, removed one of the nerves without treating it, to see if it would hurt me. To his surprise I did not feel any sense of pain. I also had a severe case of piles, of fifteen years' standing, which was healed in one treatment.

I am very thankful for the spiritual uplifting. The Bible was formerly an unknown book to me, but now it is my daily companion, and I pass most of my spare time with the Bible and our text-book. I am very thankful to God for what Christian Science has done for me, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for making plain to us this healing truth.
