For years I was a sufferer from stomach trouble, also...

For years I was a sufferer from stomach trouble, also from rheumatism and dropsy. I had been treated by many doctors, and had been in a hospital, but grew worse instead of better. After spending a great deal of money and trying all kinds of healing, I was advised by a friend to try Christian Science; but I replied that I knew it would do me no good, as I had given up in despair, and I really did not care to live if I must endure such suffering. My friend was not to be put off in that way, however, and insisted upon my giving Christian Science a trial. At last I submitted, and we went to call upon a practitioner, but it took two people to assist me in getting upstairs. I still insisted that Science could do me no good, but I took treatment that day and the practitioner said if I cared to continue I should come the next day. He also gave me some Christian Science literature to read, but I said that I could not read, on account of my age (I was then about sixty-six).

The next day, however, I called again, and after the second treatment, to my great surprise, the swelling began to disappear from my hands and I began to think there was some hope for me. After a few more treatments the despondent thought had left me and I desired to live, for the suffering was all gone and I could eat anything I wanted. In less than one month I was walking wherever I wished to go, could go up and down stairs, sew, read, and do almost any kind of work, and people remarked that I looked twenty years younger than before taking treatment. I have not been sick since, with the exception of a cold, and that was soon overcome. I have not only been healed physically, but from the study of Science and Health I have learned enough of the truth to enable me to help others.
