It is with grateful recognition of the beneficial effects of Christian Science to me and in my home that I give this testimony. Over eight years ago I began to learn what Christian Science is. A friend who at that time had been a Scientist for a number of years, was instrumental in getting me started. She loaned me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," which I took home and began to read. I was very much in need of physical help, having been in poor health for some time, and was gradually failing in strength with what kind relatives and friends recognized as a disease of the lungs, which was supposed to be hereditary in my family, my mother having passed away with it some years before.
Upon my beginning to read Science and Health, I at once received great comfort and some physical relief, but the following spring it seemed necessary to have treatment, and I did. By this time my friend had returned to her home in Denver, and treatment was given me absently for several months. For the gain of health and physical vigor I am indeed grateful beyond words, but the spiritual uplifting and the surcease of mental worries, together with the pointing to the ultimatum of higher hopes fulfilled, is ever a well-spring of happiness. Prior to my healing, I had not been connected in any way with religious matters, but Christian Science has settled this question for me. I am thankful to God for the help received in many ways, including the lectures I have heard, and my heart goes out in love to dear Mrs. Eddy.
My husband joins me in the study of the truth and our ten-year-old daughter knows no other means of healing. In the town in which we are now living we rejoice with the other members of the little band of Scientists in both Sunday and Wednesday evening services, also in Sunday School for the children. When I began to receive so much help, my two sisters and brother became interested, and now each depends on Christian Science for daily needs. Through a realization of the truth I have been able to see the disappearance of evil for others in proof of the healing power of divine Mind.
