When living at West Newton, Mass., during the winter...

Notary Public

When living at West Newton, Mass., during the winter and spring of 1907, our daughter, then seven years of age, became afflicted with serious bowel trouble. Day followed day, week followed week, and month followed month, until finally one hundred and sixteen days measured the time during which there was absolutely no movement. As soon as the seriousness of the case was realized, the child was placed under Christian Science treatment, and until a normal condition was restored she was apparently in good health (excepting for recurrence of high fever each two weeks and lasting about forty-eight hours), playing with zest in the snow or the fields. Inquiry was made of a physician of skill and reputation regarding such a case, who stated emphatically that it was impossible for a child to be alive under such a condition. The treatment was persisted in, and on June 10, the day following Communion service at The Mother Church, which the child attended, the condition began to yield; at the end of a week the child was normal, and has continued normal ever since.
