Christian Science does not overlook sin or its punishment

Wilmington (Del.) Star

Christian Science does not overlook sin or its punishment. No teaching is more insistent that all sin is punished, and that the slightest violation of God's law, or the law of good, is sin. To acknowledge that evil has overwhelming power, would be sin to the Christian Scientist, for it would be acknowledging another power or creator besides God, and therefore breaking the First Commandment. Likewise it would be nullifying the possibility of overcoming the world, the flesh, all evil, and therefore departing from the Christ way or Christian way of doing things,—"Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." Christian Science insists that the wages or reward of sin is its punishment, and that the results of sin would cause every one to cease sinning if this were fully understood. Christian Science has freed many by showing that the so-called pleasures of sin are false and unenticing.
