The great trouble with most of those who criticize Christian Science...

Rome (Ga.) Tribune

The great trouble with most of those who criticize Christian Science is that they not only do not have any understanding of its teaching, but what is even sadder, they do not understand their own Bible. There are hundreds of religious denominations, all claiming to be founded upon the one Bible, and what makes such a condition possible? It is simply because the world persists in taking the Bible from a purely material basis. Now there are about as many material bases as there are material beings, hence the confusion of mortal thinking has given us a greatly confused theology.

What is the remedy? To change the thought, to have the one Mind, as Jesus taught us. John says, "Now are we the sons of God;" not while we are in sinful thoughts and works, but when we attain to the perfect oneness with the Father.

Our critic quotes Mrs. Eddy's words, "This Comforter I understand to be Divine Science." [Science and Health, p. 55.] Let me explain what Christian Scientists understand Divine Science to be. It is the understanding that God is omnipotent (all-power), omniscient (all-knowing), omnipresent (filling all space); that "God is love," as the Scripture declare Him to be. So that in God we have a loving power that is the "All-in-all," a "very present help in trouble," who heals all our diseases and who wipes away all the tears from our eyes. "He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance." That is, all good things, for nothing else can come from eternal goodness.
