In the fall of 1906 my attending physician sent me to central Indiana for my health. He told me that on account of my physical condition I must avoid any violent exercise and all exposure to cold or the heat of the sun. I was suffering from a stomach affection, poor circulation, and extreme nervousness, being in a very weak condition. After over five weeks of the best medical treatment, I found myself in a state of deep melancholy, without hope in the world, yet with a great longing to live. A great cloud of fear hung over me, in fact the fear of death itself was upon me; but, thanks be to God, at this time of great need I turned to Christian Science for help, and from the first treatment I was able to eat what was set before me, with no bad results following.

In one month I was back at home, doing the heaviest kind of labor on the farm. This was followed by the most strenuous year's work of my life, with no loss of time on account of sickness except once in the spring of 1907, when I seemed to be poisoned by wild ivy. By the application of Christian Science this trouble was overcome in two days,—a much shorter time than had been required to effect a cure through the use of medicine before I came to Christian Science. I have also had another proof of the healing to be found in Christian Science, in a case of toothache and severe pains in the head and face. This was met without other aid than that of my wife who began the study of Christian Science at the time of my healing. Since coming into Christian Science we have been more prosperous than ever before. I have had no bills for medicine or medical treatment to pay, and with good health and strength to work, I have been able to purchase a home.

While I am indeed deeply grateful for the physical healing, I must express yet deeper gratitude for the spiritual quickening and the peace of mind which have come to me; and as I study the Bible and Science and Health, and prayerfully try to put into practice their teachings, I find that each day brings greater blessings than the one before. I am very grateful to God for all these proofs of His loving care, and I am thankful to Mrs. Eddy for showing us the way to find Him, through the truth which makes us free. This is written in the hope that some reader will be led to turn to the one God, good, the source of all healing.
