THE LECTURES

Frank H. Leonard of Brooklyn, N. Y., was greeted April 25 by a large, attentive, and appreciative audience, to hear his lecture on Christian Science. Dr. Charles O. Fletcher, who introduced the speaker, said in part,—

To me has been assigned the honor and pleasure of introducing the lecturer of the evening. Before doing so, however, I desire to relate briefly a portion of my experience in Christian Science. My first introduction to the subject came at a time when I was actively engaged in the teaching and practice of medicine and surgery, and if the opinions which I formed and entertained at that time had been based on fact, I would have been justified in doing that which I did do, which was to condemn and denounce Christian Science, its advocates and its Founder.

My second introduction to Christian Science occurred when my wife by its ministry was beautifully and instantaneously healed of serious and seemingly hopeless physical conditions, from which she suffered for years, despite the efforts of many earnest and loving medical advisers. Contrary to my expectations and predictions, she remained well, a fact which caused a desire on my part to know what Christian Science is. By investigation I learned that Christian Science is a religion pure and simple. I learned that Christian Science is the truth, the same truth that was taught, lived, and demonstrated by Jesus of Nazareth nineteen hundred years ago.
