Having received so many blessings from Christian Science,...
Having received so many blessings from Christian Science, it is with great pleasure that I give this testimony, hoping it may help others. In June, 1908, my little boy, then about four and a half years old, had been ailing slightly for two or three days, so I wrote to a dear friend, who is a practitioner, for her to treat him; but she was absent, and the next morning we sent word to another Christian Scientist, for we had had the truth proven to us once before with the same child. The practitioner called in the afternoon and stayed about an hour. About three hours after she had gone, there was a decided change for the worse, and then the child asked to have Science and Health read to him. His father and I read to him until half past nine, when his father retired and I remained with him all the time, for the child was in a high fever. I was about to leave him for a moment, to call my husband from the next room, when he suddenly became so alarmingly ill that for the moment a sense of fear overcame me; but I declared aloud that God is Life, and God is All.
I called my husband to stay with the child, while I went to the nearest house (I had to call them out of bed, as it was then midnight) and asked if I could use the telephone, as we were strangers there and did not know where the night telephone office was. The practitioner said she would treat the child, but there was very little improvement from that time on until I again called her up at five o'clock. At half past six, the child was looking very much better. He had less fever, and at seven o'clock there was a decided transformation—he asked for something to drink, and an hour later he said he would like to be dressed. I responded gladly, with a heart full of gratitude to God, and to our dear Leader in this age. My earnest desire is that my life may prove what Christian Science is, and that I may be a worthy follower of its teaching.
