The movement for the transfer of water-power sites from the Government to the several states and territories has taken concrete shape in a bill introduced by Senator Smoot, which provides for the leasing of power sites by the states and does not permit their sale under any conditions.
For
many years the writer had the desire not only to be a better man himself, but to be able to help his fellowcreatures in some measure to escape from the sin and wretchedness which enveloped them.
A beautiful
lesson was taught me lately, showing me something of the deep significance of the teaching of Jesus in the following words: "Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

Christian Science does not help those who are in prison because of having violated the laws of the state, to "imagine" that they are free and thus make them happy, any more than it helps those who are in bondage to physical illness because of violation of health laws to "imagine" that they are well.
A Christian Scientist does not ignore the claims of pain and disease, but he knows they are not a part of God's creation, which was finished and pronounced very good.
The mission of Christian Science is the establishment of God's kingdom on earth, and it seeks to accomplish its purpose by eradicating sin from men and inculcating the love of good in their affections.
I have studied Christian Science in America, and it was there that I became absolutely convinced of the magnitude of the truth that had been revealed to the world, and of the selfless fortitude of the lady to whom it was revealed, and through whose tireless energy and faithful devotion to Truth hundreds of thousands today, who have been healed of all manner of diseases, sins, and mental deformities, are calling blessed, and striving to show their gratitude in the only way acceptable to her, by closely following in the footsteps of the Master.
In
reading the testimonies of healing received at this office for publication, the editors have been greatly impressed with a feeling that, next to the spiritual uplift which the study and practice of Christian Science have given the writers of these testimonies, the most important thing is that a great weight of fear has been lifted from their shoulders and they realize that they are indeed free.
At
the present time as never before, the most strenuous efforts are being made not merely to lessen disease and vice, but to annihilate them, and for this evidence of human progress Christian Scientists rejoice, even though the methods employed may not be those which they consider the best.
Not
infrequently would-be clever critics take occasion to make Christian Scientists the butt of raillery, if not ridicule, by an apparently legitimate inquiry as to why they should put forth such earnest effort to overcome sin and sickness, if it be true that these things are mere "old wives' fables.

In 1902 my health began to fail, and it was at first thought that I had overworked myself and would be easily restored by rest and a change; but the benefit was only temporary, and I soon broke down again.
I give my testimony of healing in Christian Science, hoping that it may aid and encourage some one in need of the assurance that "with God all things are possible.
A little over seven years ago, Christian Science was brought to my notice through the healing of a friend whose case had been pronounced hopeless by the doctors.
Since living in Prague, so far away from any Christian Science organization, I have had many wonderful proofs of the divine presence, and of the unfailing efficacy of Christian Science in every trial.
