“A major challenge I’m seeing is individuals facing aging issues,” a fellow Christian Scientist recently told us. (We address this topic in this week’s Sentinel Watch podcast.) She added that a related problem is the view that church is aging, a perception taken on by one of this week’s writers. On the younger end of the age spectrum, teens are grappling with questions about evil via social media and in one-on-one conversations. Seeing this longing for answers has moved our Youth Content Editor to tackle the question, “Are some people evil?” The thoughts she shares include an experience of her own that shows how recognizing everyone’s innate goodness—and desire to act on the basis of that goodness—helps dissolve the evil we see in our lives and communities.
