It is with a heart filled with gratitude that I am writing down what Christian Science has done for me. About twenty years ago I had some trouble with my leg, and had to submit to an operation. After that I suffered greatly with it; there was also a stiff feeling, and I limped. From time to time I had to seek medical help, and about three years ago this ailment grew so much worse that I was unable to walk, and became bedridden. The pain was unbearable, and though the physician who had been recommended to us did all be could, I grew worse all the time, and he was at his wits' end. High fever as well as fainting-spells were added, and I became greatly wasted. This was a short time before Christmas, and things seemed hopeless in our home.
My sister then heard of Christian Science, and without my knowledge went to a Scientist, asking for help. The lady gave me treatment immediately, and the excruciating pain and discharge grew less. On the following day the lady came to see me, gave me a treatment, and I felt freer. She kindly explained it all to me, and I gained confidence and hope in God, and that night I slept for the first time in six weeks, and continued to improve daily. In January, 1906, I had so far recovered as to be able to ride to the practitioner's home, although the leg was still stiff and swollen; but after a few weeks it became more supple and normal. Treatment was then stopped, as the lady went on a journey. After some time indications of the trouble appeared again, and though I worked against this as best I knew how, it was without success. I therefore turned again to Christian Science, and a practitioner kindly took care of me. The condition improved slowly, but the lady treated me faithfully and patiently for a long time, and since last summer everything has been overcome. I can walk farther now than I ever could before.
I recognize that as God is the only power, in His presence all error must disappear. Next to God, I thank Mrs. Eddy from the depths of my heart for the wonderful truth which she has brought to humanity.
