I should like to tell of a case of instantaneous healing...

I should like to tell of a case of instantaneous healing through Christian Science. I had accidentally scalded both of my hands and arms, and the pain was so great that I at once put them under the cold water tap. When I looked at them the conditions were such that fear at once whispered I would have to give up work. Then these beautiful words from Science and Health came to me, "Banish the belief that you can possibly entertain a single intruding pain which cannot be ruled out by the might of Mind" (p. 391). While my fellow-employees were trying to procure some remedy, I managed to get away by myself and declare the truth. Then Truth bade me handle the error, which I did, and when I looked again at my hands and arms they were perfectly healed,—every trace of burn and blister was gone, and all sense of pain. I am very grateful for this demonstration, and I know that my help came so quickly because I turned resolutely away from error and looked steadfastly to Truth.

Christian Science came to me several years ago through a dear friend. I was healed of a severe heart affection, nervousness, and stammering, also of an eye trouble of over twenty years' standing, which used to keep me confined to a dark room all through the beautiful summer days, suffering untold pain. I have been in nearly all the hospitals in London, and was sent out of them all as incurable, being given but a short time to live. I have also been freed from poverty and lack. I have often heard it said that Christian Science is a religion only for the rich, but when this truth first came to me I was very poor, being unable to work for my living. Now, through obedience to the teachings of Christian Science, I have enough for all my needs. Having proved Christian Science, I can say that in this truth the poor have much to be grateful for. Through its teachings they may gain freedom from worry and anxiety, health, strength, peace, and supply. Christian Science is for both rich and poor; it is for every heart that seeks to know and do the will of God; it is for every one who is weary and heavy laden and is seeking rest.

I am truly thankful to God, and it is only when a little of the smoke of the battle has cleared away that we can really see how much we have to be grateful for to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
