AMONG THE CHURCHES

Plans have been drawn and contracts awarded for the erection of a church edifice for First Church of Christ, Scientist, on the lot owned by that church, corner of Winthrop and Derby avenues. The contractors will begin work at once. The plan calls for a structure of classic Grecian design, eighty-five feet long by sixty-two feet wide. The auditorium will seat five hundred and fifty people, although the seating capacity can be increased to six hundred.

The site is considered ideal, as it faces Monitor park, presenting a beautiful and picturesque outlook. This building is considered only a temporary structure, to provide immediate accommodation for the fast growing congregation of this church and so fill the need until a permanent edifice is built. The building complete will cost approximately fifteen thousand dollars.—New Haven Journal-Courier.
