Four years ago, when I came into Christian Science, I...
Four years ago, when I came into Christian Science, I was a very delicate girl. At the time, I was visiting some friends in another town who were not Scientists. All through girlhood I had suffered from an ailment which resulted in spasms of the heart and serious throat trouble. While down town one day I stopped at the Christian Science reading-room. The librarian talked to me very kindly and loaned me a copy of Science and Health to take home, and told me not to hurry with it. When I had read about half way through the book I was able to lay aside my spectacles, although at that time I was doing some very fine needlework. I had worn spectacles a little over seven years for far-sightedness and terrible headaches. I have never used them since, and that was five years ago last spring. Within two years from that time I was healed of the heart and throat trouble. I have changed so much in appearance and weight that all my friends are greatly surprised.
I would also like to tell of an accident that occurred over a year ago while at a friend's house. There was a heavy swinging door which I was about to push when it was accidentally pushed from the other side with such force as to throw me against the opposite wall. For a few minutes my nose was quite flat. That evening I went to see a practitioner—not for treatment, but to ask her advice. She said I could have the nose examined and set by a surgeon, if I so desired, and leave the healing to Science. The nose was said to be quite badly broken, in fact, a bit of bone was protruding through the skin, but I did not go to a surgeon to have it set. In eight or ten days the bone which had protruded disappeared, and in a little over three weeks all sense of pain to the touch was gone.
