Christian Science has no connection with the methods of those who practise faith-healing, with which, however, Christian Scientists have no wish to interfere. There is no blind dependence on Christian Science; certainly the student has faith in the rule which he learns in Christian Science, just as the schoolboy learns to have faith in the rules of arithmetic, but it is only as he understands them that he can put them into practice. Healing in Christian Science is the demonstration of scientific knowledge of Truth, it is the proof of fact, not fancy. Even a child can demonstrate his understanding of numbers, and a beginner can put to the test his grasp of the facts which Christian Science unfolds; but it is a mistake to call it "faith-healing."
