LOVE'S PLAN

The old adage, "Man proposes, but God disposes," is well known. Through the teachings of Christian Science we are learning to realize more fully the truth of these words. We have learned, and are still learning, that God alone governs the universe, and that nothing can withstand His omnipotent power to accomplish His infinite purposes of good.

When first we commence to glean a little of the spiritual understanding which Christian Science brings to us, it would seem that the manifestations of evil are as numerous, and even more so, than those of good; but a better understanding of the truth reveals to us, that all appearances of evil, of whatever name or nature, are unknown to God, infinite good, who the prophet tells us is "of purer eyes than to behold evil;" and who shows us how to overcome its seeming reality and power by revealing that in His sight evil is unknown; that, as He created man in His own image and likeness, evil is also unknown to the man of God's creating. Our work is to endeavor in thought and by application to be constantly alert to "know the truth" which sets free, to think and acknowledge good only always and everywhere, through the understanding of the allness of God and of His spiritual and perfect creation.

From this we see that the plan of divine Love for each one of His ideas is never less than all good. He who is infinite good is incapable of sending anything less. Christian Science therefore reveals that our heritage is the infinity of good, and it is our privilege to recognize this and avail ourselves of it by exercising our God-given dominion over all the earth, while we know that only good can be our lot if we are truly seeking to know Love's plan for each one of us. We must see and recognize, too, that the manifestations of good are not limited in any way, but that they are above all we can ask or think, and that we alone live it ourselves. Knowing this, we shall not be anxious for tomorrow, even if to human sense the way seems difficult, because we know that divine Love alone governs and we can rest assured that henceforward all good is ours—all that is our rightful heritage, and that we cannot miss any legitimate or true happiness or anything that it is right for us to have.
