There seems to be much misapprehension in the mind of many as to the Christian Science belief concerning "disease." The Bible informs us that all things were made by God, and "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good." Christian Scientists claim that sickness is not a part of the "very good" things that God made. Christian Scientists believe that sickness or "disease" is not real in the sense alone that it is not God-created. But they do not for that reason ignore it. They realize that as a human experience it must be grappled with and overcome through the proper application of the divine Principle as taught by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health.

When Jesus healed one who was blind and dumb, he said, "The words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also." This is a clear statement that Jesus did his healing works through the power of God, the one infinite Spirit, and said that those who believed should do the same works. When Jesus sent the disciples forth on their mission, "he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick," and it is recorded that "they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where." Christian Scientists follow this method of the Master, and depend upon the power of God, rightly understood, for the healing of every kind of sickness and disease; and they are graciously rewarded in every civilized country on the globe.
