Each day I feel more grateful for what Christian Science...

Each day I feel more grateful for what Christian Science has done for me. For many years I was a great sufferer from a complication of diseases, and from the age of six years I was troubled with a diseased throat. I was under a specialist's care almost five years for stomach, liver, and kidney trouble, and I tried every remedy that I could hear of in the effort to restore my health. One doctor gave me not over six months to live, and I was compelled to give up my business. All these years I was trying to live a devoted Christian life. I often asked God to restore me to health, and could not understand why He did not.

About two years ago I had a very bad fall and injured my knee severely. In the midst of my suffering, a kind friend and neighbor, who was a Christian Scientist, assured me that there was a way to be healed. I told her that I knew I was sick, and I could not believe as she did, but she still persisted in advising me to take treatment. My husband could not leave home, but he asked this friend to take me to a practitioner, the nearest being at Anderson, Ind. I was then on crutches; I had fallen on the 13th of May, and it was then the 25th of July. We went to see the practitioner, and thanks be to God for that day, and for the joy that has come to our home by taking up Christian Science and trying to live as God wants us to live. We have had many beautiful demonstrations since then. I took three weeks' treatment, and it was the best investment I ever made. My husband is trusting God and working with me, and many ailments have been overcome by our earnest efforts, but the best is the spiritual uplift. I do thank God that our stubborn wills were broken and that we were led into the light of Truth. My daily prayer is that we may live to be of much and lasting good to others. We read the Lesson-Sermon every Sunday and take the Sentinel. The Bible and Science and Health are our daily companions.

My heart goes out in love to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for her great work in lifting up fallen humanity. Our earnest desire is to be worthy to be known as true Christian Scientists. My husband was not driven into Christian Science by affliction, but he is a sincere believer in the truth. In our daily living I pray that the consciousness of Truth and Love may so abound in our lives that other hearts may be made glad. We united with First Church of Christ, Scientist, at Anderson in January, 1909, and we desire to be ever found true to God and to the teaching of Christian Science. We rejoice that we are in the fold.
