The increasing tolerance in which people of one form of religious belief hold those of other beliefs is one proof of the world's betterment. Bitter religious warfare is a thing of the past, and rightly belongs to the dark ages. President Taft, in an address at the Champlain celebration, made the following utterance:—
"I think we are reaching a point in this country where we are very much more tolerant of everything and everybody than in the past, and where we are giving justice where justice ought to be given. We are no longer cherishing these narrow prejudices that come from denominational bigotry, and we are able to recognize in the past these great heroes in religion and Christian faith and appreciate the virtues that they exhibited and follow the examples that have been set for us."

One of the growing organizations in this country is the Christian Science church, and the attitude of the press and public toward Christian Scientists has undergone a remarkable change in the past ten years. In common with other faiths, the early days of Christian Science were filled with troubles. Followers of Mrs. Eddy have been scoffed at and reviled. They have been persecuted, and have grown stronger tinder persecution. Violent abuse, scathing criticism, withering satire, misdirected wit, have been hurled at Christian Scientists, and in spite of it all the organization has grown with a rapidity that has enthused its followers and confused its detractors.

We do not profess attachment to the teachings of Christian Science, but we are alive to the fact that there is a vitality to the movement that challenges the attention of every thoughtful man. In today's Mail we give a large space to "Medical Explanations of Christian Science Cures." The article is taken from the Arena. It should be read not only by Christian Scientists, but by every person who wishes to keep well informed in regard to the development of the world's thought.
