For the physical and spiritual healing which has come to...

For the physical and spiritual healing which has come to me in the past four years I owe a great debt of gratitude to Christian Science Four years ago I began the study of this healing truth, and in one week I was able to lay aside the glasses which I had worn for twelve years. For months I had not been able to read or sew by artificial light, and had stopped doing fancy work or in fact anything which would in any way tax my eyes. I suffered constantly from headaches, which the physician and oculist agreed came from my eyes and a complete depletion of the nervous system. At that time I was waiting for the courage to undergo a surgical operation for organic diseases, but as I feared the anesthetic I begged the physician for a little more time. He consented, but said the longer I delayed matters the more serious the complications would become and a malignant growth would eventually develop as an inevitable result.

It was during this interval that 1 took up the study of our text-book, and after the healing of my eyes I was firmly convinced of the healing power of Christian Science. I then put myself under the care of a practitioner, and in three and a half months I was a well, strong woman, perfectly healed. Today I am enjoying more perfect health than I can even remember. I am indeed grateful for all this, but this healing was only the "means to an end," for the physical healing is but a mite compared to the spiritual healing that goes on daily through the study of the Bible and Science and Health. Jesus once said, "If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin." So it is with mortals today: we knew not what sins we were really committing until this healing truth came to our consciousness and uncovered the lurking errors which were causing our discords and diseases. As these errors are uncovered, if we are obedient we hasten to destroy them. I have been able to overcome a strong sense of resentment and replace it with compassion, and for this I am deeply grateful.

Words can never express my sincere love for our Leader, who has indeed been my benefactor. My constant prayer is that of the psalmist: "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer."
