A man's religion is his most sacred possession. True religion is truly scientific because it deals with everlasting facts. It is the link between this world and the next. When looked at in this light, we see that students of scientific Christianity—Christian Scientists—cannot be elbowing or injuring others, for they are practising what they have found to be true; and if it is true, it must be good for all mankind. The results of their efforts as seen in the healing of sickness and the removal of other ills are a proof to them that the law they obey is right. The Supreme Being is Spirit, one, indivisible, and good. The great scientific fact is the presence of God, good. Civilization cannot prevent, solitude cannot give, the knowledge of this truth. The important business of life is to love God supremely, and one's neighbor as one's self. Even a halting attempt to keep to this standard is found to have very healthful and happy effects. It leaves no room for the worship or fear of evil, the supposititious opposite of good, in any shape or form.
