I feel an earnest desire to give thanks for all the good that has come to me through Christian Science. For eighteen years I suffered from a disease which is peculiar to women. At the age of twenty-eight I submitted to an operation, after which a bowel disorder set in. Eight years ago I was taken with a disease greatly feared—appendicitis—and seemed to be very near death. After I recovered I had more worry and fear than before, as the physician had told me to be very careful, for I would not live through a second attack, and I might easily have a return of the disease. I always had been careful, and consulted physicians now and then, but was told that nothing could be done for me. I had continual pain in the abdomen, and sometimes the attacks were so severe that they would frighten me, so that I became tired of living; moreover, difficult conditions arose in the family, and I thought I could not live on. I had heard of Christian Science two years before, and also attended the meetings several times; but I said to myself, "You have always believed in God, and that is enough." A few months ago, however, it was proven to me how much I was mistaken. I became so weak, as the result of the great excitement and all I had to struggle with, that for weeks I could not sleep and walked about with the darkest thoughts in mind. Besides this, I suffered with terrible headaches.

While in this frame of mind I called at the home of some friends, who asked me to go with them to a Christian Science meeting, which I did. On that evening the testimonies which were given made me feel that if those people had been helped it would be possible for me to he also. I bought a copy of Der Herold. and read it all night. as I could not sleep. The next day I went to a Christian Science practitioner, and found help immediately. I returned home reassured, and slept soundly and felt wonderfully strengthened. Then I experienced wonderful things! One disease after the other disappeared, and they were not a few. First of all, I experienced great buoyancy and lost all fear, as I knew that God was with me. After a few weeks I had gained some understanding of Christian Science, and I made great progress, so that I was able to help myself in various ways.

Now I am completely healed, and I thank God with all my heart, and our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, as well. I also want to thank Mrs. Eddy that she has given us the text-book. Science and Health, in which she has written down the revelation which came to her. This book enables one to understand the Bible aright. I pray to God daily for more understanding.
