LETTERS TO OUR LEADER

Honolulu, Hawaii, April 11, 1909.

Beloved Leader:—More and more, as I strive to "learn what in thine own mentality is unlike 'the anointed,' and cast it out" (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 355), does the beauty and grandeur of your life and the wonder of our text-book dawn upon me; and I seem to see the "lone footsteps, so far ahead,"—as Mr. Bliss Knapp said, in that sweet tribute which he paid you in a letter published in the Sentinel some months ago. I am so glad I never have a doubt that it is the truth which you have given to the world.

Not long ago I was thinking that if only I had understanding enough, were living Science well enough, and doing good enough work to be of service to you, and to be called to your home, how happy I would be. Immediately came the thought: "Why, her home is in Mind, and through all of her writings she is constantly calling each and every one of us to that home." I also realized that your request or desire that every Scientist subscribe for and read the Monitor is an individual call to serve you by serving mankind, for whose redemption you are ceaselessly toiling. I know that God is blessing you, and that the windows of heaven are wide open for the pouring of the riches of His love into your prepared and waiting thought. Although I was very young in Science at the time of the trial, I felt I was well grounded, because I knew you were rejoicing (Matthew v. 11, 12). God's will is your will—and God's will is done!
