It is a poor form of reasoning to attack one's belief and characterize it as "blasphemous," "idiotic," "hysterical," and an insult to the intelligence of reasoning people, because that peculiar form may not agree with ours. The reverend gentleman and all of his kind will awake to the realization that things are not like what they used to be a century ago, when the congregation would blindly accept every statement made by the man in the pulpit as something so overwhelmingly true and sacred that it was an unpardonable sin to act or even think differently. Whether the cult [Christian Science] be scientific or Christlike, it is gentle, charitable, patient, and apparently full of that tender belief so meekly expounded by him who went among the lowly and unrighteous and sought to do good by example instead of expounding theoretical creeds and loudly denouncing other forms of worship.
