It is with deep gratitude to God, and to Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, that I desire to give my testimony of its healing power and spiritual uplifting. Eighteen months ago I was entirely healed of bowel trouble, from which I had suffered at times ever since childhood, also of stomach trouble of over ten years' duration, together with other physical and mental troubles. Before trying Christian Science I was continually taking medicine, but was constantly growing worse. I finally decided to try physical culture, with strict dieting, not eating any meats or cooked foods of any kind. I kept this up for some time, and found that I was growing more irritable and nervous every day, besides losing in weight; but the worst feature of all was that my stomach and bowels were getting worse instead of better, so that I gave this up thoroughly discouraged.
I had seen what Christian Science had done for my mother and sister, and knew there must be something in it, although I was not willing to try it then. Having heard much, however, about The Mother Church, and being in Boston shortly after I had given up the treatment mentioned, I decided to attend the Sunday afternoon service. I was so impressed by the beautiful edifice, the simple yet satisfactory service, and more than anything else by the happy and intelligent countenances all about me, that I thought if Christian Science could make this great number of people look so well and contented it could surely heal me. Before the service was over I had decided to begin treatment at once, for a feeling came to me that God never made me sick, and that I could be healed and have perfect health. I began treatment the following day, and God's promise did come true, for I was healed of the stomach trouble in the first treatment, and in four weeks I had been healed of the other trouble. Since the first treatment I have taken no medicine or material remedies of any kind, Christian Science having proved more than sufficient for all my needs. Besides the blessing of good health, I am very thankful for the spiritual blessing, for a better understanding of the Bible, and for a feeling of more brotherly love toward my neighbors.
These are only a few of the good things for which I am thankful to God, and to Mrs. Eddy, who has given to the world that wonderful book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," in which is found the way to health and happiness, through the understanding and practical demonstration of God's promises.
