I should like to tell how grateful I am to God, and to...

I should like to tell how grateful I am to God, and to Mrs. Eddy, our beloved Leader, for the manifold blessings I have received since coming into Christian Science, which was about nine years ago. When I first became interested I was suffering from rheumatic and catarrhal trouble, also several other ailments. I was healed of the first-named trouble through the reading of Science and Health. This healing I attribute to my close study of the text-book, particularly the platform in the chapter entitled "Science of Being." I memorized the last ten pages of the chapter, and by the time I had done so (it took about six months) I suddenly woke up to the fact that these diseases had both disappeared. Before I came into Christian Science I was compelled to use remedies which caused me much suffering, and they did not seem to help me at all. I should like to add that I have never had a return of either of these ailments since that time.

Words are inadequate to express my appreciation of what Christian Science has done for me, and also for other members of my family. I should like to tell of a beautiful demonstration which occurred about three years ago, in the case of my sister's year-old daughter. The relatives had all been telephoned to, myself included, and upon arriving at the house found that according to material sense the baby was nearly gone. The doctor had just left the house, having told the parents he could do nothing more, and my brother-in-law was kneeling beside the bed, weeping, but I told him that God is the Life of all. I then put the baby on a pillow, and walked the floor with her, repeating the 91st Psalm. In half an hour the child was sleeping naturally. From then on she began to improve, and even the doctor admitted that it was Christian Science which had healed her. I wish to add that they did not give the child any more medicine, and that today she is a fine, healthy little girl.

I feel that I can never be too grateful to our beloved Leader for having given us such an understanding of the Bible that we can utilize it for our daily needs and in all times of trouble. While I have not yet worked out of all my old beliefs, I find that one by one they are fading away—like a dream. I am also grateful for our Sentinel and Journal, as well as our other periodicals, and many times I have been healed of severe attacks by reading some article. I have but one prayer and one desire, and that is more humility and more love.
