The Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, is just what the title implies—a key to the Scriptures, or a Bible commentary. It is used as an aid to the study of the Bible. It does not take the place of the Bible any more than does any of the many other Bible commentaries, but it unfolds the spiritual import of the Word. The result of this illumination of the Scriptures is that a Christian Scientist rarely omits his daily Bible study. As Christian Science is a knowledge of God and His creation, including man, the one who is studying Christian Science realizes that a study of the Scriptures is essential to his health, happiness, and progress. The new editions of Science and Health and its revisions introduce no new Principle. The intent in the revision of this work is the same as in any other text-book, wherein the revisions simply give a fuller elucidation of the principle. On page 361 of Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy says, "I have revised Science and Health only to give a clearer and fuller expression of its original meaning. Spiritual ideas unfold as we advance."
