IT was well said, John Young, And history hath approved thy sturdy tongue. When proud theology was wont to preach God made all things; He is the Sire of each, Thy plain philosophy rebelled, and cried God is the father of mind, and naught beside! Though, like that other John, thou did'st appear A voice upon a desert of despair, Thy words, as bread upon the waters flung, Were bravely spoke, John Young!
