Having suffered for several days from an attack of...
Having suffered for several days from an attack of stomach trouble, during which the simplest kind of food and even breathing caused great distress, I turned to the Lesson-Sermon, hoping to find some word that would bring relief. As I read I came upon this passage of Scripture: "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." Then I realized that the Father is absolute good, and all that He gives is like Himself—good. His gifts are beneficent, and among His bestowals are health, friendship, activity, dominion, and perpetual harmony; all that would impart a sense of comfort and abiding peace. Before I had completed this line of reasoning, a sense of ease and freedom passed over me. I arose and walked around the room, and found that I had been healed. This instance is but one of many over which I have been able to rejoice. Sorrow, despondency, and fear, and also heart failure, have all been overcome for me by the declaration of the truth.
In times past, my concept of a Supreme Being was very vague, my earliest being that of a God far distant and unresponsive, and later agnosticism had fast hold of me. It was in this condition that Christian Science found me, and gave me a sensible and satisfying answer to all my questions in regard to Deity. I am deeply grateful for the message of Christian Science and lovingly grateful for the strengthening and encouraging example of the Leader who is so bravely blazing the way out of human discord into the consciousness of ever-present peace.
Mrs. Adelaide A. Ackerman, Boston, Mass.
