The method of Jesus is the leaven which never, since he set it in the world, has ceased or can cease to work in all old or new religions. The substratum of this new-old religion is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control. These virtues embrace the record of the whole world's revealed faith. There is no longer any reason why a spirit of watchful jealousy should ignore Christian Science. Its beginnings and the signs which have spread all over the world are that Christian Science has reenthroned the method and secret of Jesus.

It is plainly visible that the eternal God has been our refuge from one generation to another. Christian Science is the new-old religion which is turning the world back to the Bible. In the progression of Christian Science the saying of the prophet Amos is being fulfilled. An old-new religion has been rediscovered and refounded by an American woman. Her fame fills the earth and the uttermost parts of the sea. Christian Science may well be called an American religion. Said the prophet Amos, "They shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord." The Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, already has proven and is daily demonstrating the ground thought, the living water, the bread of life brimful of promise and of joy to mankind — "and the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day; for there shall be no night there." "The exterminator of error is the great truth that God, good, is the only Mind, and that the suppositi tious opposite of infinite Mind — called devil or evil — is not Mind, is not Truth, but error, without intelligence or reality" (Science and Health, p. 469).

Again, Science and Health says (p. 335), "Reality is spiritual, harmonious, immutable, immortal, divine, eternal." Plato, Aristotle, and Cousin, Descartes, Leibnitz, on these points are of one and the same opinion. Christian Science (as the writer understands) teaches the divine essence to be Spirit, Life, Truth, Love. This great truism is not inaccessible and interdicted to human intelligence. As Science it is easily taught to the most humble mind.
