THE LECTURES

William D. McCrackan, M.A., delivered the semiannual lecture on Christian Science under the auspices of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in The Mother Church edifice, Falmouth, Norway, and St. Paul streets, Boston, Mass., Thursday evening [Oct. 7], before an audience of about five thousand people. Judge Clifford P. Smith, First Reader of The Mother Church, introduced the lecturer, as follows:—

The speaker who will address you this evening needs no introduction to the members of this church. To those who are not of this faith, I can say that he has proved his usefulness in this world as an author and historian, as a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science, as First Reader of this church, and as a member of the Christian Science board of lectureship. It is in this last capacity that he is here tonight.

The religion aptly called Christian Science presents the truth about God and His universe, including man, in such a reasonable and logical manner that it appeals to little children and to men who are able to examine it on the highest plane of human comprehension. It appeals especially to men who are great enough to be humble, and who are so compassionate, helpful, and spiritual as to be truly Christian. In this way it has enlisted the services of William D. McCrackan, who will now address you.
