"Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" cannot...

Roseburg (Ore.) Review

"Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" cannot properly be referred to as "the Bible of the Christian Scientists," and is never so referred to by Christian Scientists themselves. It is what the title infers—a key to the Scriptures,—inasmuch as its study makes clear the spiritual meaning of the Scriptures, enabling the student to make practical application of the truth contained in the Bible in the healing of sin and disease. Christian Science is awakening universal interest in the Scriptures, and it is impossible to be a student of the Christian Science text-book without also being a student of the Bible.

It might be said in passing that it is time the sensational stories about Mrs. Eddy's health, mentality, and impersonation, so often discredited and proved false, be stopped by the refusal of an enlightened people to give credence to them. Mrs. Eddy is probably the busiest woman in the world, and if she still desires to "keep aloof from society," certainly her wise leadership of the Christian Science movement, her charity and good works, richly entitle her to the seclusion she claims in which to work out her purpose of blessing mankind.
