About ten years ago I became fully convinced of the efficacy of Christian Science healing in the case of other ailments than "hysteria and imaginary diseases." While residing in Portland, Ore., I saw the notice of a Christian Science meeting to be held at a private residence. At the time I was suffering from a very painful attack of bladder trouble, and although I had had no experience with this method of healing, it did not "seem a thing incredible" that the power had been conferred on those accounted worthy, according to Christ's promise. With the utmost faith I applied for healing, which resulted in a gradual improvement with each treatment. It required only six to effect a complete and permanent cure, not only of the acute ailment, but also of a chronic bowel trouble of fifteen years' standing, although I had been assured by an eminent physician that I need not expect relief except I submitted to an operation. Being cognizant of the fact that an operation of this kind was not likely to give beneficial results, it did not appeal to my judgment.

I will add that although I have arrived at the age of eighty, when it is customary to say that an ailment, whatever it may be, is incurable on account of the advanced age. Christian Science has repeatedly given me prompt relief from attacks of disease which I have had during the past ten years. It is not unreasonable to say that Mrs. Eddy is the most wonderful woman of this or any age, and that she has conferred the greatest benefits upon mankind.
