Mrs. Eddy does not claim to have originated Christian Science, but to have discovered it. The precepts of Christian Science may be discerned by any one in the life and works of Christ Jesus, and even he did not claim to have originated the truth which cures all human ills, for—speaking of his divine nature, or selfhood, which apprehended this truth—did he not say: "Before Abraham was, I am"? thereby indicating that the truth is without beginning. Mrs. Eddy does not claim to have originated that which is beyond the power of the human mind to originate.

Truth is universal—all can partake of its benefits. It may be that the world has not been ready until the present hour to grasp this fact that the truth is the one effectual remedy for suffering humanity's heavy hearts and heavy burdens. It is an indisputable fact, however, that Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, has set in motion a force which is being felt in the uttermost parts of the earth and is bringing to human discernment a realizing sense of the practical adaptability of our Saviour's teaching.

Christian Science draws the line clearly between the speculative and imaginative theories of mesmerists and the sound and practical teaching of our Master. In its practice it rises high above the plane of human impulse and partakes of the divine nature of our Saviour, who came "not to destroy, but to fulfil."
