I had severe stomach trouble and was doctored for years without being cured. I also had a throat trouble for about two years, and several years ago a disagreeable-looking growth came on my face, which caused me much fear, and from which I suffered greatly under medical treatment. In April, 1900, I called in a Christian Science practitioner. I did not profess to be much of a Christian, as I very seldom went to church. However, I was willing to be healed by Christian Science if it could be done. The first week I got relief from the stomach trouble, and gained courage to go on. During the second week of the treatment the throat trouble was healed and has remained so. The growth on my face gradually disappeared and has never returned. Later in the same year I had a fall, and severely sprained a deformed leg, which caused me excruciating pain, and I again called the practitioner. I might add, concerning this leg, that when fifteen years of age I cut my knee with an axe, and after a great deal of suffering under the care of physicians, I was left in such a condition that I was compelled to use a wooden stump. This knee was in a very bad condition for fifty years. During the Christian Science treatment the flesh became natural in appearance, and when I got around again I found to my surprise that my toes came about five inches nearer the ground than they did before I was confined to my bed from the fall. I was thankful to be able to get around as well as before, for I had received a severe shaking-up, and I am grateful to God for bringing me through.

My granddaughter, twelve years old, was so ill with a nervous disorder that she could not help herself in any way, and could not eat or talk. The neighbors all said that she could not live, but she was made perfectly well by Christian Science. She is now a healthy girl, without one sign of the old complaint. Some time ago my wife was taken seriously ill with a severe attack of bowel trouble, and again the practitioner was called. She was relieved in half an hour, and the next day was well. I am not a Christian Scientist, but I have good reasons for speaking in favor of Christian Science. I am seventy years of age and am in perfect health.
