A desire to have more of my friends and old acquaintances know what Christian Science has done for me and mine, prompts the giving of this testimony to the marvelous healing power of the truth, when scientifically applied through the Science of Christianity. During an epidemic in this city, one year ago, my three boys were all affected, the youngest, five years old, being the first one to come down. The board of health was notified, and immediately sent one of its members to the house. He examined the boy, diagnosed the case, and we were quarantined. When the doctor was informed that we should depend on Christian Science treatment, he said the board had no objection to any one's having Christian Science treatment where it was preferred, so long as they conformed to the law in respect to the quarantine, etc.. and he left our house assured that we would endeavor to protect our neighbors by complying with the rules governing such cases.

A Christian Science practitioner was called in, the boy was treated, and within twelve hours after the treatment began he was well. Within thirty-six hours every symptom of the fever had disappeared from the second boy, ten years of age, and he, too, was healed. The oldest boy's case was a very stubborn and malignant one, every form and symptom accompanying this dreaded disease seeming to manifest itself. A serious throat trouble set in and it was a trying ordeal for my wife and me. Here, however, was to be made the demonstration of God's power, as revealed in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. The kind practitioner made daily visits, cheering us with words of counsel and hope, and through faithful devotion and a practical understanding of the truth brought the boy out whole. Not a vestige or symptom of the disease was left, and all fear of any evil after-effects was destroyed.

In addition to this experience many other discordant conditions have been overcome in our family. I was healed of throat trouble which had been pronounced incurable from a medical standpoint; of oft-recurring suffering from a bowel trouble of twelve years' standing, which at various times kept me in bed from two to three weeks. In 1893 this latter trouble became so severe that a prominent physician, president of the Colorado Homeopathic Association, told me that an operation was necessary; but I secured a copy of Science and Health, read it, and with the help of an old friend who gave me Science treatment, both of these troubles disappeared within a week's time. Aside from a slight attack, five years ago, which lasted three days, there has been no return of the bowel trouble, and since then I have been entirely free from it. I was also healed of a very severe case of acute lung trouble within three weeks. Besides these, chronic headache and other minor ailments have been readily and quickly overcome, and although I cannot say that fear, worry, and anxiety have entirely disappeared, they are gradually becoming less and less.
