Springfield (O.) Sun

Pain, suffering, and sin are indeed very real to the human sense of things, even as darkness seems real, and they are to be dealt with in a Christianly scientific manner and overcome in the way Jesus pointed out, through the power of God, Spirit. . . . Our critic says, "Let a person become inspired with the true faith of Jesus Christ and he will not accept this system." ... The writer was a student for the ministry and occupied the pulpit for about one year, until his health failed. He was healed through Christian Science after medicines had failed, and he knows the above statement to be untrue. Not all ministers of the gospel agree with our critic. G. F. Deal, D.D., of Dayton, O., testifies that Christian Science healed him of a cancer. He first went to a prominent physician in Dayton, who positively stated that he had a cancer. He then sought a Christian Science practitioner, and was healed. After his healing he again went to the same physician and had an examination made. The physician remarked that he knew two things: first, that he had had a cancer, and second, that he did not now have one. In addition to his healing Dr. Deal testified that Christian Science had been instrumental in drawing him nearer to the religion of Jesus Christ and to a fuller acceptance thereof. Dr. Deal stated that he once denounced Christian Science, but that was because he had not understood it.
