Five years ago my spine and head were badly injured in a railroad accident, causing me great suffering, and one side was paralyzed. Besides all this I had internal injuries, for which the physician said an operation was required. I tried all kinds of medicines, also message, electricity, and everything I could think of, but when it seemed as if I could not live an hour longer a Christian Science friend came to see me and gave me a copy of the Sentinel to read. I grasped at the paper like a drowning person, and after I had studied it for two or three hours the alarming conditions disappeared. I have never used any material remedy since that time, which was over six months ago. My friend brought me more papers, and in three weeks I went to a practitioner for my first Christian Science treatment, and she asked me to get a copy of Science and Health.
I had been brought up in the church, and taught to be good; but though I tried to do my best, I was not satisfied with myself. When I commenced to study Mrs. Eddy's text-book it seemed like starting a new life. The more I study it and the more I live it, the happier I am and the more I wish to help others. I have had only a few treatments in Christian Science, and now I can keep on my feet all day. I am grateful to God for showing me the way, and to Mrs. Eddy for her book that has done so much for me.—Mrs. Anna Johnson, Los Angeles, Cal.
