AMONG THE CHURCHES

Many experiences of physical healing and spiritual help received through the study of Christian Science were related at a testimony meeting held in the Town Hall, Farnborough, on Wednesday afternoon [Aug. 5]. This was the first meeting of its kind; indeed, the first Christian Science meeting or service ever held in Farnborough. A large number of residents in the immediate vicinity were present, as well as a few strangers who came by motor and train from a distance, while Aldershot town was well represented by those who are regular attendants at the services held there every Sunday. There was at least one well-known medical man present who listened with interest to the relation by a lady of how Christian Science had cured a surgical case. To those who were present the testimonies and the service which preceded them were of an impressive character, and served to denote to those who attended out of mere idle curiosity the new reading of the Scriptures which Christian Scientists teach.

The meeting was bright and interesting, and the congregation showed marked attention. The First Reader spoke very briefly as follows: "Christian Science does not put before us a new religion, but it calls attention to that taught and practised by Jesus of Nazareth, who pointed repeatedly to his works as proof of his divinity, and of his at-one-ment with the Father. These works consisted in the main of healing the sick, and he repeatedly commanded that those who followed him should also prove their faith by healing the sick. These meetings are held in order that those who are trying to obey the Master in this respect should have an opportunity of telling others of the health and happiness which they thus obtain, and which they greatly rejoice to share with others." Several interesting testimonies of the healing and saving power of Christian Science followed.—The Aldershot (Eng.) News.
