About nineteen years ago I was operated on at St. Luke's hospital, Richmond, Va., said operation resulting in a condition which led to several incurable diseases, so pronounced by eminent physicians, and making me a semi-invalid for fourteen years. During that time of great suffering relief through materia medica was only temporary. On the 16th of November, 1901, I arose from my bed and locked my door, that I might not be disturbed while reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I began reading about eight o'clock in the morning, and became so absorbed in this spiritual thought that it was noon when I was recalled to myself, but not the old self,—I was well and happy. I may add here that I had never been in a Christian Science church, never met a practitioner, nor spent a penny for literature. It is true I had read Science and Health once before, but had seemingly received no benefit. I thank God we have a Science given us by our Leader that is doing such marvelous healing.
Ianthe Yelverton Sauls, Norfolk, Va.
I am not a Christian Scientist but I wish to corroborate the above testimony. My wife was in the hospital in the July preceding her healing, but was given no permanent relief, for in October she succumbed to a general breakdown, all the old troubles reappearing, seemingly as bad if not worse than before. I am delighted to say that no symptoms of her diseases have ever returned.
