It is with deep thankfulness, and also with the thought of helping some one who may be striving for health and happiness, that I write these lines. Nearly fifteen years ago I was healed in Christian Science of a very painful disease of the stomach and liver, accompanied by terrible headache. I had been treated for years with material remedies, under the care of some of the best doctors, but the complaint was gaining all these years, until I became interested in Christian Science through the healing of my sister of a serious stomach trouble which the doctors had failed to relieve. She came to visit me, and brought with her "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, to give to me. I had read it but a few days when it came to me very plainly that it is the book spoken of in St. John's Revelation. I had always been a student of the Bible, and I could see at once how this book illumined its teachings, making it more blessed to me. Saying that had seemed to me obscure, now became clear, and I wondered that I had not been able to see them before, especially the teachings of our Saviour. Science and Health is indeed a "Key to the Scriptures" to all who study the Bible with our text book. I hold the two books together in my affections. I was healed in two treatment ; all pain being destroyed. My baby, then about six weeks old, was healed of a bowel trouble. She is now nearly fifteen, and has never taken any medicine since she was healed in Christian Science. We have had many demonstrations, which prove the power of God, through Christian Science, to heal and to help. While I am thankful for the physical healing, it is indeed the smallest part, for the mental awakening and the spiritual uplifting are much more. I am thankful to God, and my love and gratitude go out to our revered Leader for this understanding of the healing power of Truth and Love, made known to us by her.
