In March, 1900, when all medical help had failed and the last doctor had left me, having done all he could to relieve my suffering, I came to Christian Science for help. From infancy I had had constant stomach trouble, and as I grew older it continued, in spite of my being under a doctor's care the most of the time. At twenty I was practically an invalid, suffering from heart and spinal trouble, in addition to the other. The pain was so intense at times that I was delirious, but the doctors were powerless to help me, I was sent to California, to see if a change of climate would be of any benefit, but after spending a year and a half there, I returned to Brandon, if anything worse. During the time I was in California I consulted three doctors, who all said they could give me no hope of ever being well. About this time some one sent us some Christian Science literature, including a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. After reading this for some time, I decided to take treatment. I was treated at first for eleven weeks, and after that for a week or two at various times for three years, when all the old troubles had entirely disappeared and I was perfectly well. I am now able to do my part in the housework, and feel so glad that I can be of some use. The first two weeks' treatment in Christian Science brought me out of bed and I was able to eat what I wanted and could walk around. Before taking treatment I had been too weak to walk and had to be carried when I was able to be up at all. Words can never express my gratitude for all Christian Science has done for me and for our family. I shall never forget the kindness and patience shown to me when I applied for help, and will endeavor to show my thankfulness by trying to live the truth as we are taught it in Christian Science.
